Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
Inspired by the game of kendama, I’ve decided to create this blog to seek further inspiration and inspire others in turn.
Following some research after a desire for a new hobby and a dream, I soon owned my first sunrise pink kendama. Pink, because it’s the best color. As the big kid I am, the moment it arrived I immediately started playing and was hooked instantly. The difficulty of the new physical actions were refreshing. After about 2 weeks of almost constant play I had gotten pretty good at spiking the tama. Of course there were so many tricks I’d seen done that I wanted to try, I knew I was not ready for most of them.
Finding a site online listing the basics I went to work at perfecting the first 50. Today, I think I have 50+ tricks up my sleeve, though I can’t say they are all from the basics list. As I developed my skill with the toy I’ve also developed my playstyle and my repertoire of tricks. It’s truly neat to see how new tricks develop from the basics and new combinations are created.
